Hi Listmates:
For those of you who fond memories of the Festival on the Goldenrod Showboat
there is a new web site dedicated to the revival of the boat. The city of
St. Charles, MO pretty much screwed up the situation for the boat while
moored in their fair city. They disliked the boat so much they gave it
away. The new owners have moved the boat back to the Mississippi riverfront
just below the Poplar Street bridge. They have intentions of restoring it
to its former glory and from there, who knows?
Some good pictures of the Fest on the site. One of my fondest memories of
the event was the last set of the week which always featured Turk and the
Salty Dogs (and anyone they chose to invite to join in) on the stage in the
theater. There is a picture of one of those sets on the web site. For all
of you Ernie Carson fans (LOL) there is even a picture of "old Ern" playing
with the Dogs.
Best,
Bill
