Dear Listmates & Pat,

Its amazing how useful and helpful this site is. Through mentioning
Edinburgh we have already arranged an "F2F" meeting with Phil Crumly
(Natural Gas, Jazz Band) on either Friday 1st August or Saturday 2nd August
for lunch and a beer (what a GAS) whilst in Edinburgh. (the last time we
met was at a private party at our home in 1995 with Graeme Bell., Pete
Clute, Ed Zimbrick and many others present).

Pat, our playing schedule for 1st August (which is also on our website at
www.ans.com.au/~zenith ) is the Fairmile Jazz Club in Edinburgh (evening)
then Ziggy's (Cafe Source) in Glasgow on the evening of the 2nd August and
St Andrews Bay golf course (day and evening) on Sunday 3rd August leaving
for Norway's largest Tradjazz festival in Haugesund.

USA Listmates may be interested to learn that there is a statue of Marilyn
Monroe on the waterfront in Haugesund where her family came from. There is
also a bust (see how I think) statue of Miles Davis on the lakefront walk
where the jazz festival is held in Montreux, Switzerland and there is a Bunk
Johnson Memorial Hospital in Sweden. Sorry for the trivia information, I
could not help it.

Pat, our schedule may not suit yours coming into Leith (port of Edinburgh)
but check out Phils Natural Gas and/or Ed Zimbricks 10th Avenue schedules as
well, they are also under links on our updated website (I think).
Cheers and beers,
Tom Wood

> Hi Listmates!
> I'm intrigued by the discussion about the Edinburgh Jazz Festival and
other jazz events in Europe this summer. I'm planning a cruise across the
North Atlantic that will be prefaced by two nights in Amsterdam (July 28-29)
so I'm interested in any tips as to where I might find some OKOM there. The
first port out of Amsterdam is Edinburgh on August 1 and I gather that the
Festival will be in full tilt at that time. I would appreciate it if Tom
Wood would look over his schdule and let me know what OKOM outfits will be
playing, any time of the day since the ship won't leave until midnight. On
a faint hope, beyond Edinburgh I will travel to the Orkneys, Shetlands and
Faroe Islands and then Iceland and Greenland, Newfoundland (St. John's) and,
finally, New York. I'm familiar enough with New York but the other ports
would not seem to be naturals for OKOM. But possibly, in the vast expanse
of OKOM knowledge represented in this list, someone has some info on these
out-of-the-way places as well.

gig in August. But, I'll be tracking you down eventually.
