starts Friday at 7 PM; Sat 2 sessions noon to midnight and Sun. Noon-5 plus

HELD AT THE VALLEY RAILROAD - (EXIT 3 FROM ROUTE 9)
Essex, CT is the site of the best New Orleans style jazz festivals on the
East Coast and in New England. In its 11th year, The Hot Steamed Jazz Festival
supports The Hole In The Wall Gang Camp, located in Connecticut, for children
with cancer and other life threatening blood diseases.
Presenting 15 Traditional Jazz groups, with two simultaneous music sites and
four music sessions.
The sessions: FRIDAY: 7.P.M. TO MIDNIGHT * SATURDAY NOON TO 6 P.M. *
SATURDAY EVENING: 6 P.M. TO MIDNIGHT * SUNDAY:
NOON TO 5 P.M. * SUNDAY also has a New Orleans Style Gospel Service at 10 a.m.
First time bands at the festival include acclaimed, Ragweed Jazz Band from
Canada, Jambayala from Buffalo, NY. Tom Roberts Incomparables presents
outstanding rare charts from Jelly Roll Morton. The Apex Project, with Dan Levinson
pays an outstanding tribute to Jimmie Noone.
"Center Stage" highlights for this year include: The one and only Vince
Giordono and his fabulous Nighthawks and Fred Vigorito's outstanding Galvanized
Jazz Band.
>From England, Stride Pianist Neville Dickie will team with Paul Asaro on
dueling pianos- a USA first.
Returning this year are New Black Eagle Jazz Band, Independence Hall Jazz
Band, Riverboat Ramblers, Dr. John Clark's Wolverine Jazz Band with Jimmy Mazzy,
and Peter Exclund and his Quartet with Cynthia Sayers
Also featured this year, Harlem Blues and Jazz Band, with vocalist Ruth
Brisbane and veteran jazz musicians, whose roots reach to the 20's and 30's, and
who played with Ellington, "Fats" Waller, Sinatra and Louis Armstrong.
The outstanding Roof Garden Jass Band re-creates the charts of the Original
Dixieland Jass Band-the group that made the first Jazz recording--as well as
music from the other famous "fives" of that period.
