Sadly, Melbourne trumpeter, (OKOM) Neil Ruddick lost his long & courageous battle with cancer last Friday.  His melodic, lyrical style, reminiscent of Bob Barnard or Ruby Braff, whom he admired, set him apart from the rest. He will be missed.  Neil led a group of musicians playing OKOM at "La Grotta" ( dreadful name ) pizza restaurant in Greensborough every Wed. night.  Tony Newstead has taken over the helm for the present, & sit ins, jamming & fun are still the order of the day every week.
