[Dixielandjazz] Bix Fest Review

Bob, I agree that the bugs and heat can be a problem at LeClaire Park.
Saturday had perfect weather conditions and at night the bugs didn't seem to
be a problem. It was so enjoyable standing at the edge of the Mighty
Mississippi watching the boats pass by with the great dixieland jazz in the
air that I forgot about the negative things that can ruin the comfort of an
outdoor venue.

The DJML F2F was attended by Me and one other person. I did run into
several other DJML members at different times during the festival and
apparently it was not a priority for them. That's OK.

Your "DJML Says Bix Lives" button is on its way Bob.

Thanks to Kurt Bowermaster for his very well written and interesting review
of the Bix Festival.

I played it last year & would certainly have liked to have been there again
this year what with it being Bix's 100 birthday celebration.

The park venue that Kurt speaks of may be nice for listening and watching
the bands. But, I can tell you, at least last year, it was one of the
hottest stages that I have ever played on.

And, being right on the banks of the Mississippi River, the bugs are
something else. Thank Gawd we did not have to play it at night when the
reinforcement bugs were all out.

Kurt, how did the DJML F2F turn out?

One of the 2 ladies that started the afternoon jam session was our the bass
sax player, own Meg Ryan. She also plays a nice piano. I had a BM (bloody
mary, that is) with her @ the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee DJML F2F this year.

Thanks again Kurt.
