Hey...I'm here in Wisconsin...safely away from any meaningful music...and
conversation.
I've been guesting on relatives' computers and so I am not able to post
much. I have been hassling about decisions with relatives involving going into
an assisted living place. that may come about soon but there are problems
with finances and other crap. I hope to be computerized once I m in there. I
had a kindly offer from a Lister to provide me with a computer. But I have a
computer and it is at my son's house in Illinois. Hopefully, he will bring it
up here.
Once I get situated I hope to start work on a book. I 've had a lot of
encouragement to do so. My energy level is very low so we'll see how it goes.
Thank you, Bob, for you kind comments on the CD "Snag IT" Franz Jackson with
Jim Beebe's Chicago Jazz on Delmark. This is very much available through the
Jazz Record Mart in Chicago or you can get it at www.judikjazz.com
This recording was a labor of love as it was my tribute to Franz Jackson. A
great Chicago lineup with Bob Neighbor, Greg Sergo, Joe Johnson, Max Hook,
Jack Meilahn, Jimmy Johnson and Franz on clarinet, tenor, soprano and vocals.
ll of the tunes are a part of Franz's history and of Jazz history. For
example, Franz is the only guy who does "Didn't He ramble" with the orginal vocal
verses and the complete "Flee s a bird" hymn.
So, hang on...I'll be back.
Jim Beebe
