At a public concert July 3, in Rose Tree Park, Media Pennsylvania, I was
approached by a Penn State University student at the break. He was doing
a term paper for his course in "Jazz Essentials", a Fine Arts elective
course for him. He is a Liberal Arts major.

I agreed to answer questions posed by him via e mail. Thought you might
like to see them.

Cheers,
Steve Barbone

Hello Mr Barbone,

Here are some of the questions that would be useful for my paper:

1.) What style of jazz do you play most? For example, Dixieland, Swing,
Boogie
woogie?

2.) Who are some of the popular Jazz musicians that inspire you?

3.) You performed a Louis Armstrong song titled "Black and Blue", from
the play
"Hot Chocolates",
          - What instruments were performed in this song besides the
trumpet,
drums, and trombone?
          - Were there any call-and-response patterns?
          - Was the song non-homophonic?
          - Was the range high or low?
          - Was the melody angular or linear?
          - Was it fragmented or continuous?
          - Was the tone rough or smooth?
          - Does the melody have repetitions?
          - Is the melody tuneful or memorable?
          - On the improvisation note, will this piece sound much the
same the
next time you play it?

That should be it for now. If I have any other questions I will get
back to
you. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer these. Thanks
again.

Rob
