There are many other fine trombone slide lubricants out there, I didn't mean to say the Bach cream was the only one.

Slide O Mix, Trombotine (my personal favorite, available through a UMI dealer), Super Slick, are just a few of the names that are great.  Add a little water and away you go.  The idea is to have the slide riding on bubbles of water rather than metal on metal or metal on oil.
