A similar message was sent a little while back, but my iMac screen froze as I
was sending it, and it seems to have vanished. It is not in my 'sent' folder.
If you get 2 of them, I apologise to all.
Dear Jim,
Zep Meissner was discussed on the DJML in about Dec 2000.
Unfortunately I have not kept the posts.
They could be in the DJML 'archive'. If we still have one.
Mr Meissner was a clt/sax player who worked during the1940s with Charlie
Barnett, Bob Crosby, Pee Wee Hunt and Spike Jones. (Listmate Don Ingle has font
memories of him, as I recall).
He led his own bands and was an arranger for Lawrence Welk.
The earlier DJML discussion covered his MGM (English Parlophone) recordings, his
'dixieland' arrangements, their availability and his music shop in Burbank, CA.
There was/is a web site for the shop run in his memory by his family.
Pull up Google, type in: Zep Meissner.
There are quite a few links.
Kind regards,
Bill.
