I think Don Coates was the piano player for the Village Stompers but
would't swear to it. They got popular around the time I left New York
City. Paul Hubbell, brother of Frank (VS trumpet player) is an excellent
reed man and was still active in NYC as of a couple of years ago when I
lost touch with him after we played a gig together at Eaglesmere in
upstate Pennsylvania.
