[Dixielandjazz] World Series of Jazz

I can add this to the story. The Brit band was Max Collie, declared the
winner by a suspect jury...and the manager did run off with the gate.
At this event, the late Bill Bacin and another gent ( name slipping at this
sr. moment, got into a real donnybrook...fist and wrestling and both had
injuries. More action among the jazz audience than on the stand at times.
Needless to say, Max Collie was persona non grata with most of the musicians
involved and his name became a verb for awhile. As in "what are you trying
to do, Collie me?" or "I've just been Collied!"
One of the bands that lost to the "Champ" was the World's Greatest Jazz Band
at their prime. Kind of tells you about the jury!
