Sheik wrote (polite snip) about a banjo soiree.

"Steve Dibonaventura (in his 30s) is a marvelous banjoist--plays
sometimes with Barbone Street JB. Likes Dixieland as well as other
stuff, but he did terrific versions of "Dans Les Rues d'Antibes" and
"Loose booger stomp" I mean "Bogalusa Strut". He's not merely an
excellent technician with great single string chops, but plays
thoughtfully and tastefully--his runs and arrangements have substance."

List mates:

Yes, Steve DiBonaventura is excellent. Besides playing with Barbone
Street, you may want to give him a listen on Doug Finke's Independence
Hall JB's first CD, "Red Hot & Blue". Among other things, he does a duet
with called Beethoven's 5 and 1/2 with Tubist Gil Corella (from Wash DC)
that is a gem because both are outstanding players. This is a neat CD
with Finke, DiBonaventura, Pete Reichlin and Gil on tuba, Orange Kellin,
Jon Erik Kellso, Tom Roberts and Rob Garcia.

Also, If you are in the Philadelphia area on Fat Tuesday, March 4, you
can catch Steve and his banjo at the Iron Hill Brewery in Media PA from
6 to 9 PM. He is leading one of our Four, Six Piece Dixieland band
versions working that evening. With him are Jerry Rife on clarinet,
Steve Moise on trombone, and John McLernan on Tuba. I haven't decided
which trumpet and drummer to put there yet.

Cheers,
Steve Barbone
