Nope. Sorry, but it's "before I sprang."  (You'd have to use "had" as part
of the verb phrase in order to get a past perfect form here.

And "Sprang and sprung represent two verbs, I think, one of which is pure
slang"  isn't true, either.  They're both the same verb--just slangy usage.
