The word 'spring' in Texas is pronounced 'sprang', just lak 'thing' is pronounced 'thang' (e.g., "Whahy, yu sweet yung thang!"). The word 'sprung' is actually both a past participle AND a past tense of 'spring' (e.g., "Ah bought the rang and sprung it on 'er."). Both usages are extensively documented in Beausolil's pioneering work, _The Provence and Usage of the Past Indeterminate Tense in the Rural Southwest, 1879-1911: An Annotated Guide_ (Scheisskopf and Hartel, 1912; illustrated; recorded by Lomax from Ol' Blind Jesperson, 1924, and subsequently arranged and performed by the Waco Original Rhythm Kings on _WORK Songs_, Folkways S-98.6).
