Hello Listmates
I have ben looking through and listening some old tapes that I have and am
hoping that someone out there can give me some help.
I have a tape of Gene Mayl's Dixieland Rhythm Kings recorded at The Ember's
Club, Dayton, Ohio in the early 1950s (it was privately recorded). The
personel is incomplete, but what I have is as follows:
Gene Mayl (trumpet)
Bob Hodes (clarinet)
Charlie Sonnastine (trombone)
Robin Wetterau (piano)
Jack Vesting (banjo)
Ted Bielefeld (tuba)
The information with the tape suggests that Gene Mayl plays trumpet but I
can find no reference anywhere to him having played trumpet. I therefore
assume that he was on tuba. The info also gives Bob Hodes on clarinet, a
mistake, I think, and assume he was on trumpet.
Can anyone suggest who the clarinet player might have been
