[Dixielandjazz] question

A good friend of ours always sends a Christmas card with a bit of
information as to the last year, etc.  (Her husband (deceased) was a
fine guitarist & professor at Moorhead University.)
She mentions this year that she is busy travelling a lot as Regional
Director of the AARP.
Can anyone help me with what the AARP is, please?  I don't believe there
is a Spanish chapter, and I'm a bit unattached from such things.......
