Dear Dick,
Can't help with a lead sheet, but the following info may help track it down.
It is probably the 1934 Gus Kahn-Walter Donaldson song.
I have it by:
Ben Pollack & His Orchestra (29 May 1934)
and
Bobby Hackett (31 Aug 1950 - part of famous 'Jazz Session' album).
This is probably the one you heard, as it features a female vocal group.
A very slow version.
It is on the recently issued Mosaic 'Classic Columbia Condon Mob Sessions' CD
set MD8-206.
No one knows why it was recorded at the end of a 'dixieland' record date, who
the girls where, why they were in the studio that day, nor why it was never
issued.
I am an avid Tom and Jerry fan, but have never associated this tune with their
cartoons.
Kind regards,
Bill.
