The Sacramento Traditional Jazz Society presents Chuck Hedges, April 13,
2003, noon - 5:00 PM.

Chuck Hedges was born in Chicago where, as a young man, he was
able to learn from and play with such Jazz greats as George
Brunies, Muggsy Spanier, and Danny Alvin. He moved to Milwaukee
Wisconsin in the 1960s and was part of the great Dick Ruedebusch
Band (Ed Sullivan Show) with whom he made many recordings. He
tours the world with many top Jazz groups, including his own
Benny Goodman style Chicago Swingtet. He also headlines at major
international Jazz festivals including our own Sacramento Jazz
Jubilee for the past 20 years. When not on tour, he plays
regularly in the Milwaukee area and has performed with his
Swingtet at Andy's in Chicago on Monday nights for over 14 years.

Opening the show on the Main Stage at noon will be Ragtime pianist, Nan
Bostick. Ms Bostick is the grand niece and biographer of
composer/publisher Charles. N. Daniels ("Hiawatha," "You Tell Me Your
Dream," "Chloe," "She's Funny that Way," "Sweet & Lovely" etc.). Hailed
as one of ragtime's most dedicated researchers, Nan is a frequent
contributor to vintage music publications. She also is quite active
giving musical seminars and performances at concerts and festivals
throughout the country.
