You've got that right! His English is almost accentless, and better
than that spoken by 90% of the people in Chicago. (Charlie)
-----------------
Thanks for the compliment guys but that is just not true. Do not exaggerate,
I am not that good. In fact, I think, I tend to loose most of my English and
I've been forgetting what I used to know. I was in the States three years
ago for the last time and I would need to go back and then maybe within a
few weeks I could get back to my normal 'knowledge' level.

And that is true for jazz, too. I haven't practised (it's 'practice' in the
US, right?) jazz piano for ages and I only play rags and OKOM (do we still
use these nice acronyms on the list?) when we are doing a gig with the band.
Thus sometimes I feel, I would need a good month at least to settle down
somewhere in the woods and study those early guys, recordings, video,
verything. With a piano in the house, of course. Then another month of
sitting in with various bands would do. But due to my classical violin
obligations I can't do this.

By the way, I am about to finish translating my own study entitled 'Franz
Liszt's Influence on Ragtime and Swing'. It is about 80 pages. I wrote it
two years ago in Hungarian and should have translated it that time but had
no time and, no wonder, not enough knowledge for it. Well, I did it, my
mother has corrected it and I have to finish it within two months. If
anyone's interested, write me off-list, I'd be glad to send you a copy
before it will be printed. You might propose necessary corrections in
exchange. It's in Word format (IBM compatible, not Apple Mac), about 220 kB.
If you are interested, let me know off-list and I'll send you a copy.
(Although not now but a few weeks later, first I have to correct those
mistakes I know of.)

Could any one suggest me early jazz videos that I could purchase? I hardly
have anything. I have records and music books but almost no videos (with the
exception of a recording of Bobby Hackett and then Wild Bill Davison). Also:
let me know where I can order these? (I scrolled through several web pages
maybe two years ago and found lots of thoings but I know that some of it is
garbage so I would rather have information from those who have seen these
films.)

Everbest,

Tamas

PS.: Hey Charlie, it's great to 'see' you on the list. Say 'Hi' to Lornetta
for me. Do you still do any gigs in Heaven on Seven and elsewhere?
