Dear Marv,
"All I Need Is You" (1942. Peter DeRose-Benny Davis-Mitchell Parish).
The best I can do is confirm that Peggy Lee recorded it with Benny Goodman
(Columbia) on 14 May 1942.
BG version arranged by alto player, Dave Matthews.
I do not have the issued version (take -1) which was reissued on numerous
Columbia LPs and will eventually come up in the Classics chronological CD
series.
A second take of the song (unissued by Columbia) was recorded on the same day
and is available on Phontastic LP 7644 and Phontastic CD8824-1 (which I have).
They re-did the song (with a band intro added) on 17 June (also unissued by
Columbia) and this is also available on Phontastic LP 7644 and Phontastic
CD8824-1 (which I have).
Not much help, but it may jog a few memories closer to your home.
Kind regards,
Bill.
