Dear Perry and Jim,
Perry, have another look at your Mercury LP of the Basin Street Six and check
the composer credits for the other tunes.
If the information on your LP is the same as on the 10" Australian Mercury
release (MG 25111) you will find that they are not composer's names, but
publisher's names.
EB Marks was a well known publishing company.
Play "Basin Street Stomp". It is a show-off, riffy OKOM tune, composed by the
band.
The notes to my LP (by George Hoefer) say: "...and also do one of their own
originals, 'Basin Street Stomp', a side that has tremendous power".
The proper musicians on the DJML may well pick its origin(s)
It was recorded on 19 Sept 1951.
