Welcome back.
I tried to open your Hildagarde link, but it froze my screen (twice).
I will do my own check later.
I wonder if Richard's informant is confusing Hildagarde with Valaida (discussed
on this list ages ago).
Valaida (a great trumpet player/entertainer living in France during the
1930s-40s) was certainly tortured while a prisoner of the Nazi regime.
A fascinating story, backed up by some equally fascinating recordings (all
available on CD).
