You'd be surprised, Steve. There's a great book published by Rolling Stone 
Magazine and written by members of their staff called "Rock Of Ages / The 
History of Rock and Roll". I'd advise all OKOM folks to get a copy at the 
library (may be out of print now and hard to buy). These researchers are very 
thorough and many of you might be surprised to read that their pick for the 
number one all-time influence on Rock and Roll and number one facilitator 
that allowed Rock to happen was.......

LOUIS ARMSTRONG!

In fact, they give Louis credit for lighting the spark that allowed almost 
all AMERICAN music of the 20th Century to carch fire with the public. A very 
interesting read.
