Yes, it needs shooting down because it just ain't so! Lincoln deserves a
lot of credit and enormous respect for having held the Union together, even
though he did it illegally (the South had every right to seceed!) and at a
bloody cost. But as an icon standing tall over toiling slaves and saying,
"These shall be made free," he deserves no credit at all--nor, I assure
you, would he want any! Lincoln was not fond of black people. The modern
politically correct attitude was something he would have found ludicrous. As
do I.
