Good ideas, indeed!  I would add:

5) Delete everything that isn't on the up-and-up, and open nothing,
NOTHING sent to you, unless it's a reputable organisation, or a friend
-- UNLESS that friend himself is so [ridiculous] as to open attachments,
and doesn't even know he's sending you a virus!,
