Hodges' nickname was shortened to "Rab" on some of the parts Ellington 
wrote out for him.  While Hodges was featured many times in "Jeep's Blues," 
I don't know if Jeep was ever his nickname.  To find out more about him, go

Barnet was an Ellington fan.  I wasn't aware of his nickname, but it 
explains the title of his recording Wild Mab of Fish Pond.
