[Dixielandjazz] Favorite Solos

And how about Dizzy Gillespie on "I Can't Get Started"? Either Ira
Gershwin or Vernon Duke, or maybe both was/were quoted somewhere saying
it was his/their favorite instrumental rendition of the song. (If my
memory has not been obliterated by too much single malt)

And consider Charlie Parker's two very different solos on successive
takes of "Embraceable You". They can be heard back to back on the
Smithsonian Jazz Collection. An interesting comparison can be made
between them and Bean's "Body and Soul". And you can hear a jazz man
completely changing his solo conception from take 1 to the alternate
take just a few moments later.

Maybe Diz and Bird were "modern" players, but the above solos are works
of art.

So much music, so little time.

Cheers,
