"Bill, this is an obvious fabrication. Every jazz fan knows that the
trumpets sit BEHIND the trombones. 

Actually, I have been placed behind the trumpets in a recording
situation, with the saxes behind the bones.  Therefore, the stronger
horns aren't blowing past their mikes into the mics of those in front.
Don't like that setup, though, from a musical point of view.  It may be
valid for recording purposes, but there it's great fun  having a line of
screeching trumpets blowing behind you!
