Dear Listers:

I agree that choosing an all-time best solo is a hopeless task, but here =
are some that I have enjoyed over the years. All are available for your =
listening pleasure on Red Hot Jazz Archive.

Red Allen (tpt) on Mule Face Blues with King Oliver and his Orchestra
Dickie Wells (tbn) on Springfield Stomp with Cecil Scott and his Bright =
Boys Orchestra
Omer Simeon (clt) on Doctor Jazz with Jelly Roll Morton and his Red Hot =
Peppers
Miff Mole (tbn) on Hurricane with Red and Miff's Stompers

In addition, try Coleman Hawkins (tsax) doing his classic solo on Body =
and Soul.

These are all worth the listen, and are a drop in the bucket of great =
jazz solos!

Dave Stoddard
