Thanks for this, Nancy!

I was completely distracted from the DJML, after all I'm Brazilian and
am completely connected with World Championship games! (we'll win!)=20

Yes, I didn't remark Bob's plug and kind praise for my CDs, have to
thank him for that. Better late than never. But take this opportunity
to answer to some questions he makes on his post. "Blues for Today"
first track of "Classical Jazz Today" CD, is my own composition, as is
"Hot One" (one of my nicknames) first track of "Jazz Fireworks" CD.
It's all in the booklets, but of course, it's written in Portuguese!
About "Indian Sagua" it's a tune I picked out of a LP from George Lewis,
one of my idols (with Johnny Dodds, Sidney Bechet, and Albert Nicholas).
Couldn't find composer. The meaning of "Sagua" I don't know either.
Incidentally, "Albert's Blues" is a composition from Nicholas, and I
make him a reverent homage, playing in his style with a trio as he
recorded it in the forties.

You can find some critical comments about these CDs at our listmate
Jempi's wonderful site

real worth of visiting. The feb./march issue brings my article about
"Playing Traditional Jazz in Brazil" and "How I started".=20

Yes, I received some requests for the CDs, I will send them, only ask a
little patience because I'm not so organized as to have an international
selling Dept. (The CDs where conceived to be sold only at our Concerts!)
If someone is interested, they sell at US$10,00 each, plus 5 bucks for
posting. (25.- for two). I will look for a practical way of payments.

And yes, I decisively want to go to some Festivals... I've been trying
from a long time now! Just have to wait to gather enough receptivity
from the organizers. If some listmate can help me in that, to make the
right connections, I would be very thankful ;-) and even send a CD or
two.... ;-)
Thanks to all,

Tito Martino

Gosh Tito!
If I hadn't written you, then you'd never have known that Bob Romans
made a
huge pitch for you on the DJML, all because he lost your e-mail address.
Am
I the only one to express interest after this great ad for you?!!!?
Thanks
for your reply, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can (later today).
Love and hugs,
Smiling Face
P.S. I have to run now --
didn't even finish reading your e-mail because I wanted to make this
forward
of Romans' e-mail a top priority

Hi Listmates...
Since I've lost Tito's email address, I'll take this opportunity to
thank
him in front of ya'll!!
I received a package from our DJML mate in Brazil last Friday...in it
was
two rhythm instruments previously discussed on this list..remember
"Caxixis"? Very clever little shakers that he has sent to Bill Gunter to
add
to his arsenal. As soon As Billy returns from his wanderings, they're
his!
BUT!! Also in the package were four great CD's of his band! One of them,
"Classical jazz Today" has wonderful tunes done in a way I've never
heard, a
mix of South American rhythms and New Orleans street/swamp beats...just
great!! The other one is his quintet, "Jazz Fireworks", sixteen great
tunes
with a lot of "guest" artists...he sent one each to Bill and I.
The first tune on "Classical Jazz Today", is one I've never heard,
called,
"Blues For Today"...very nicely done! The second tune is called "Indian
Sagua"...it's hard to describe!! Has a little middle eastern sound mixed
with a great jazz beat...
I hope they can come to some festivals in the states...they would be a
real
hit! Very exciting!!
Thanks, Tito
