Hey Charlie, COME ON NOW!! you've embarrassed me, and in front of all
these great people.
I copied your list of tunes, Charlie, as well as a couple of others
mentioned in other messages. I love those tunes, but haven't played some of
the ones mentioned for many a moon. Bechet's
"Georgia Cabin,"
Porter's " Why don't
you Behave"
??? " Wait
till you see ma Cherie"
Lyrics especially but also nice tune to play. Also a ??? " Portor's love
song to a Chamber Maid"
Just a few off the top to show you that I know about some esoteric tunes:-)
By the way, Charlie, I sure concur with your comments about trombone.
I have been lifted out of both socks more times by trombone players than any
other instrument. The only exception to that being when I was 12 yrs old and
heard Bix play his chorus on "Sweet Sue" with Whiteman. Besides knowing
nothing about jazz I was listening to a 78rpm player that featured a cactus
needle. I felt as if I had been punched in the stomach. It still comes back
to me when I listen to Bix. What if he had played the trombone? Thanks for
turning me on to this list. chuck
