John is correct, I have no proof, but I do have a basis for theory. In =
mathematics there are many laws, called axioms that cannot be proven but =
used daily because the results from their use always prove to be =
correct. Most of these axioms started out as theories. My statement is =
from my own personal observations and the application of a little math. =
My hope is that some on this list might supply some folder to help move =
this idea from theory to axiom. For example an estimate of size of =
yearly audience attendance from a number of bands divided by the number =
of those bands would provide an average estimate. Then multiply that =
average by an estimate of the number of trad bands that perform each =
year throughout the world and you would have a rough estimate of overall =
following. Simple, right? Perhaps the people from the American and =
Mississippi Rags could share some light as to how many events show up in =
their publications each year. =20

Ron Gable, who is writing a newspaper article about OKOM, said :

"One of the points I would like to get across in this article is that =
OKOM
has one of the largest followings of any music in existence today"

Having made that claim he then went on to say :

"is there anyway to get some kind of estimate of just how large the
following for OKOM is? (snip) Is there anyway to take a census of this =
kind
  of information?"

I wholeheartedly support Ron's efforts to promote and publicise OKOM,
however if he does not know the relevant statistics on what evidence =
does
he arrive at his conclusion "OKOM has one of the largest followings of =
any
  music
  in existence today" ?
