There's a whole book about early jazz in SF.  Jazz on the Barbary Coast, by
Tom Stoddard.  Available from SF Trad Jazz Foundation, which also has books
about the SF trad jazz revival, and several re-release CDs of Lu Watters
and Turk Murphy.
