since we have the Federal Jazz Commission. All the above listed players

are superb. Marty is HOT, HOT, HOT!!! on trumpet. Steve Welsh is
I guess my favorite trombone player."

Henry & List mates:

Well, both bands are solid, no question about it. However they are VERY
DIFFERENT in style. FJC, as I understand it, is almost exclusively
oriented to the jazz of the 20-30s. Hot 5, Hot 7 etc. And they are
excellent in that genre. If that's your milieu, great.

The Jim Cullum Jazz Band is oriented towards exploring ALL of the
possibilities of OKOM, plus a few of their own and much more versatile
as I hear them. And they are also excellent.

To my ears, the Cullum Band is far and away the best OKOM band in
operation today, and has been for a lot of years. Not only that but they
do it on a 6 night a week basis for much of the year. And that is the
hardest gig in the world, creating, six nights a week. It has made
zombies of lesser men.
