List mates:

A well played electric bass (Fender etc) works just fine in an OKOM band
as far as I can tell. Like many others, I was always hesitant about a
Fender Bass as part of Barbone Street (Philadelphia PA USA area).

Then I had the good fortune about 10 years ago to work with Lenny
DeFranco (Buddy's brother) on Fender bass. Lenny was in his mid 70s, had
played double bass all his life, but developed back trouble. So he
switched to Fender and quickly mastered the instrument and the sound We
did a bunch of gigs together and it was wonderful. Also got a bonus. He
took me to see his brother Buddy (bop clarinet) from the front row,
center, at two concerts in Philadelphia.

Had Ross Anderson's bass been available then, I think he would have
tried it.

Lenny DeFranco, a wonderful man from a wonderfully musical family, here
in Philadelphia, PA USA, where many Jazz Legends lived during the 20th
century..

Cheers,
