[Dixielandjazz] The Gig

At the time "The Gig" was released, I was the head of the Hot Jazz &
Alligator Gumbo Society in Fort Lauderdale. Someone from the film
company called and said the flick would open in Florida in three Fort
Lauderdale area theaters, and asked if HAGS would be interested in
getting involved.

I negotiated a price and put together three Everglades Drainage Krewes
(the name of all of the Society's house bands, no matter who was playing
or what the function) and each band played first in the lobby and then
from the area just in front of the first row of seats in each theater. 

A good time was had by all! But there wasn't one word in the papers or
anything on TV, so it may not have been as successful a PR stunt as
everyone had hoped.
