[Dixielandjazz] Barney Kessell

According to a short notice in the current Jazz-Times mag, Barney is dying
of brain cancer. (Page 28, upper left: "Barney Kessel Needs Help".) He is
broke and being cared for by his wife Phyllis, at their home: 4445 North
Ave., San Diego CA 92116-3940l.

I know nothing of Mr. Kessel personally, however, he was a major influence
on many of us "budding jazzers" growing up in the 1940's and '50s. I still
listen to and
appreciate his recordings. It is beyond my comprehension that a wonderful
artist like Barney Kessel is broke and having to beg for help. What a
business??? I'll be sending a few bucks.
