Don Ingle wrote that some folks do not consider Rosemary Clooney a jazz
singer. Those folks are probably the ones who remember her for "Come On
A My House" etc., in the 1950s. Those who consider her a jazz singer,
and a darn good one, are probably those who heard her live since 1990,
or have listened to some of the things she did on Colony Records from
that time forward.

John Petters asked "What is a Jazz Singer" and answered with "timing
phrasing, improvisation." Same as a jazz player it seems, for doesn't
the term jazz musician fit both singers and players. Only the instrument
is different.

Rosemary Clooney? If you are not aware of what she sounded like from
1990 forward, buy some of her Colony CDs from Jazz Jerry. You will hear
a great jazz singer, pure and simple. Like fine wine, she continued to
improve with age.
