Before I hit the malt (Father Christmas brought me five bottles) and then
the sack I would like to wish everybody the happiest new year they have ever
had. DJML has become an important part of my life, long may it thrive.

Over the last year we have heard that certain listmates were personal
friends of famous jazz musicians - excuse my name-dropping and do your best
to control your envy, but one of my best friends was Bert Chalkley, captain
of the darts team at the Magpie & Stump pub.
