Hi listmates!

Since I just joined the list, I thought I'd say hello and introduce myself.

My name is Dick Miller, and I live in Beaverton, OR (a suburb of
Portland). I play trombone and tuba (and a little guitar and bass), and
have been doing so for about 50 years or so. I grew up in Staten Island,
NY, but didn't get into Trad Jazz until I moved to the LA area in 1978.
I've played with a number of lesser-known bands (the City of Industry
Chamber Ensemble, Dick Greeley's Bourbon Street Six Plus Two, Churchill
Street JB, Dr. Jon's Medicine Show and Jazz Band, and Dr. Jazz and the
Interns), and have had the good fortune to jam amd gig with some of the
greats of the genre: Alton Purnell, Rosy McHargue, George Probert, Conrad
Janis, Jim Beatty, Ernie Carson, and others.

Currently, I'm doing some jamming around town, and am in the process of
pulling together a quartet that focuses on Chicago style tunes: myself on
marching trombone, Don Gibson on piano, Steve Boden on guitar and vocals,
and Jack Stevens on bass. We're still a rehearsal group at this point,
but, after Don's wrist injury heals completely, we hope to get it in gear
and start doing some gigs.

I see a lot of familiar names on the list of folks I've known from jazz
societies, gigs, festivals, and so forth. A special hello to them, and
best wishes to all for a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year.
