[Dixielandjazz] Mardi Gras Dates

My calendar shows upcoming Fat Tuesday as March 4, 2003. If that is
correct, why are those left coast Mardi Gras' (Fresno / Sacto) being
celebrated as early as February 7.  Is my calendar wrong?

Or can I start booking several different Mardi Gras dates in February as
well as March?  That would solve a big booking problem as Barbone Street
has at least 4 requests to play Mardi Gras events.
